The Dentures of Today

Dentures are prosthetic devices designed to replace teeth that have been lost. These custom-crafted appliances are supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of your mouth and are easily removable. While many patients imagine dentures being clunky and ill-fitting, modern technological developments have made them a reliable and comfortable restoration option.

Traditional dentures are removable, however, there are many types that rely on dental implants for a more secure fit. At Precision Dentistry & Implants, our dentures are custom-made to fit your natural teeth perfectly and are far more comfortable to wear than more traditional treatment options.

When you visit our Kerrville office for your consultation, Dr. Huff will first take a series of impressions of your mouth and jaw to ensure that your dentures fit precisely. Next, we fabricate a model for you to try on, adjusting the shape, fit, and aesthetic as needed. Once the process has been completed, you’re ready to show off your beautiful new smile to your friends.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Dr. Huff also provides patients with implant-supported, or “snap-on” dentures. These are secured using strategically placed dental implants, functioning like the roots of your teeth and preventing your dentures from moving or shifting during use. Similar to traditional dentures, these appliances are easily removable for cleaning and maintenance.

Unlike traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures strengthen your jaw and prevent bone deterioration. The posts of the implants will provide stimulation to the jawbone to promote healthy bone cell regeneration.

Implant-supported dentures are a great option for patients who don’t want to deal with dentures that can shift or come loose. If you think this treatment could be right for you, we’d love to schedule a free consultation at our Kerrville dental office to answer any questions you may have about dentures or dental implants. Before & Afters

FAQ About Dentures

Dr. Huff will start by taking impressions and X-rays of your mouth to create a temporary denture. He’ll then examine your oral health to ensure you have sufficient bone density. At your first appointment, custom-made dental implants will be affixed to the jawbone, with the healing process taking about three to six months. During your second appointment, Dr. Huff will place a dental crown on top of each implant, which should be worn for 10 to 14 days to promote healing. These healing caps are replaced with abutments, where you’ll try on your new teeth. If it’s a good fit, your teeth will be permanently secured. You’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure there are no issues with your dentures.
